Uncharacteristically I got up to see the sunrise, a little earlier and I would have seen it before the sun rose over the tree line on the opposite bank.
After breakfast we ambled to Wat Um Tomo, stopping here and there on the way. One of the stops included the local school which was just starting their morning break as we arrived.
Wat Um Tomo dates "from the 7th to 9th century, like Wat Phu it was reconstructed during the 11th and 12th century." See Travelfish and Treasures of Laos, at the bottom of the page
