We transferred to Tân Châu and walked over to a small riverine island, through a sedge (river grass) mat factory and a silk weaving factory before returning to the boat via rickshaw cyclo and the tender. The rest of the day was taken up with border crossing formalities, exit from Việt Nam and entry into Cambodia. Fortunately the cruise staff handled the paperwork while we took it easy onboard.
The silk weaving factory had twin side by side Jacquard looms, very interesting to me because of the significance of the Jacquard loom to the development of computers; the owner started one up so we could see how it operated. My biggest regret, in going to Tân Châu, was that we didn't go into Thánh thất Tân Châu (Cao Đài Church); even though it was very close to the wharf where we boarded the tender. Next stop Phnom Penh.
