I’d heard that Wat Lokayasutharam - วัดโลกยสุธาราม, had a spectacular reclining Buddha. That was quite correct: there was a reclining Buddha, but spectacular it wasn’t- unless spectacularness is measured by the metre. The core of the statue is the original brick and mortar, dating from the middle Ayutthaya period (c.1488 to c.1666), remains; hidden among the layers of cement used for “restoration”. Little of the rest of the temple remains except for the main central Chedi and some smaller Stupas dotted around the periphery.
I hoped to be able to do a sunset boat tour later in the day but unfortunately it wasn’t running that day, so went for a walk around some of the smaller temples in the centre of the park.
